Academic Program at The Cedar School

The Academic program at The Cedar School aims to foster 21st century skills among students and prepare them for life-long career skills as a practice. It involves designing, implementing, and evaluating these skills through courses, events, and various experiential learning programs. We want to plan for the future and build strategies that will solidify the success of students, not only in school and work, but in life. Our academic program creates an environment for students which encourages them to dive into skill development and exposes each child to the experience of learning.

What are 21st Century Skills?

21st Century skills equip students with the competencies required for this fast-paced information age. It includes the 4C’s: Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication and Collaboration; in addition to information literacy, media literacy, technology literacy, and career and life skills. At The Cedar School, we work on creating a learning environment that promotes these skills through intentional instructional design, quality curriculum and meaningful assessments.

Literacy and Numeracy Program

Literacy and numeracy serve as foundational competencies for all the subjects in the curriculum. The purpose of the program is to instill creative and critical thinking in students and arm them with the essential linguistic and mathematical tools they need to excel in all subjects across the curriculum and in their everyday lives.

Numeracy & Mathematics

The purpose of our numeracy program is to arm our students with the mathematical tools that students need to succeed personally, professionally and culturally. Students will learn how to make real life decisions by learning how to prioritise and organise information, interpret data, think flexibly, analyse situations and understand and use technology responsibly.

Literacy in English

Literacy in English is not just a means to achieve standardised outcomes in English. It also serves as a foundational competence in understanding, critically analysing and appreciating multiple subjects across the curriculum. A strong foundation in English literacy is essential for students to attain proficiency in all other subjects across the curriculum.

Strands including writing, speaking, listening, reading, and media will be used to develop and assess English literacy.

Literacy in Urdu

Multilingualism starts with mastering your native language. Individuals learn how to talk and express themselves by observing and listening to others around them. Native speakers of a language not only learn the grammatical rules of their language; they are also able to better develop and understand the nuances and gestures that refine their abilities to express themselves.
