The last couple of decades have seen unparalleled discoveries in Cosmology – the study of the Universe. On this knowledge, as humankind prepares for its greatest adventure which is to inhabit Mars, this course takes a look at various philosophical issues that arise from such an endeavour. Is there life outside of the Earth? What are the ethical implications of terraforming other planets? What role does human nature play in inter-planetary travel? Who goes and who stays? These, among others, are some of the compelling questions that students will contemplate on in this course.
