Further Mathematics broadens and deepens the mathematics covered in A level Mathematics. Further Mathematics is taken alongside an AS or A level course in Mathematics. The course develops the ability to analyze problems logically, recognize when and how a situation may be represented mathematically, identify and interpret relevant factors and, where necessary, select an appropriate mathematical method to solve the problem. As well as learning new areas of pure mathematics, student will study further applications of mathematics in mechanics, statistics and decision mathematics.
Any student interested in taking Further Math is required to sit for both AS and A2 Math and Further Math.
