Cedar College and students from the CedEco society went on a cleaning spree to SandSpit beach in association with WWF. The initiative encouraged students to help clean up the beach as much as possible, and enable it to be a safe environment for endangered species on the beach – specifically green turtles. Their main goal was to create a safe environment where turtles could come to the shore and safely lay their eggs.
Our students’ determination was almost contagious as they were ready for a hard day’s work and proved to be extremely efficient regardless of the scorching heat! All round, a very successful endeavor, and something we wish to repeat on a daily basis. We hope and pray that coastal cleanups become a regular practice for other schools as well.
