Salma Baig has been part of Pakistan’s education sector since 1986. She graduated with an M.A. in Urdu from the University of Punjab in 1993. She is now Cedar College’s Urdu teacher.
She began her career at the Beaconhouse School System; an institution she remained with for over two decades, before moving on to The Avicenna School, where she later served as Principal, from 2000 to 2002.
She has taught at Karachi Grammar School, and has been part of The Southshore School’s faculty since 2004. Mrs Baig has also served on Bayview High College’s faculty since 2009.
Salma Baig is invested in the Urdu language and year after year, has enthused students on its nuances and intricacies. Though she has been in the field for almost 30 years, Mrs Baig is as devoted and excited as she was at the beginning of her career, and constantly looks to improve and evolve her teaching methods.
Salma Baig enjoyed a long career with Pakistan Television Corporation from 1973 to 1989, and served as Coordinator at the Lok Virsa (Centre of Culture and Heritage), liaising with delegates from the Central Asian region.
