An electronics engineer by education, but a nuclear physicist by his childhood dreams. Nadeem Islam has been involved in the field of academics for nearly 20 years. His teaching career began with teaching O-Levels Physics in 1996-97 at Bay View High School. Along the way he has taught Physics at Karachi Grammar School, Convent of Jesus & Mary, Bay View Academy and Southshore School for A-Level Studies. In 2006, he assumed full-time responsibility at Bay View High as the Vice Principal for the O/A Level Campus, Following this, he was appointed as the Head of A Levels at Bay View College until November 2015. All the while, he continued to teach Physics.
Encouraging curiosity, Nadeem creates an interactive classroom environment – teaching beyond the curriculum laid down by Cambridge International to ensure clarity of concepts. His long, successful teaching career bears testimony to his goal of disseminating knowledge.
Beyond teaching Physics, which remains his primary passion, he has been involved in developing community service programs and various extra-curricular clubs and societies for students to inculcate values such as compassion, integrity, diligence and team spirit.
Prior to his involvement in teaching, Nadeem worked in the corporate sector, as part of the distributor network of Hewlett Packard Computer and Test & Measurement Instruments Division, Europe (headquartered in Geneva) where he won many awards.
In keeping with his aim to go beyond the boundaries of the curriculum, he is currently teaching a Core Module at Cedar College entitled Artificial Intelligence – Diminishing the Human – Machine Divide.
