The course will appeal to those who take pleasure in reading a wide variety of literature, who enjoy expressing their opinions and developing independent ideas. The course requires students to draw upon their own experiences and relate them to texts under study. It aims to develop a critical and informed response to texts in a range of forms, styles and contexts and helps in interdependent skills of reading, analysis and research. As a result, it forms a firm foundation for further study of language and linguistics.
